Indira Varma & Oscar-winner Rami Malek to star in West End's Oedipus adaptation

The Old Vic will host the world premiere of Ella Hickson's adaptation of Sophocles' Oedipus, featuring the Academy Award winner Rami Malek and Indira Varma. This stellar production, co-directed by Matthew Warchus and renowned choreographer Hofesh Shechter, is scheduled for a strictly limited run starting in January 2025.

Ella Hickson, an associate artist of The Old Vic, takes on the formidable task of reimagining Sophocles' play, which dates back to c. 429 BC. The adaptation is a fresh perspective on the ancient tale, exploring its themes in a contemporary context. Hickson's artistic vision, combined with the co-directorial prowess of Warchus and Shechter, is expected to breathe new life into this classic.

Rami Malek, known for his remarkable performances in films such as Bohemian Rhapsody and No Time To Die, will share the stage with Indira Varma, celebrated for her work in productions like Present Laughter and her role in the global phenomenon Game of Thrones.
