Tom Holland to appear in Jamie Lloyd's Romeo & Juliet in the West End

Tom Holland, best known for swinging into action as Spider-Man in the blockbuster franchise, is set to appear on the West End stage as Romeo in a new production of the Shakespearean classic Romeo & Juliet. The much-anticipated play, directed by Jamie Lloyd, is scheduled to open at the Duke of York's Theatre on 11 May.

Holland debuted on stage as the titular character in Billy Elliot The Musical.

The production promises a fresh take on the classic text, with text editing by Nima TaleghaniSoutra Gilmour will handle set and costume design, Jon Clark will take charge of lighting, and Ben and Max Ringham will be in charge of sound design. The creative team also includes Nathan Amzi and Joe Ransom for video design and cinematography, Michael' Mikey J' Asante for composition, and Sarah Golding and Yukiko Masui for movement direction. Ingrid Mackinnon will oversee intimacy coordination, Jonathan Glew will oversee associate direction, and Rachel Wingate will handle associate design.

To make the production accessible to a broader audience, The Jamie Lloyd Company plans to offer 10,000 tickets priced at £25 and under. 5,000 will be exclusively reserved for individuals under 30, key workers, and those receiving government benefits. Additional details about ticket availability and distribution are yet to be announced.
