Opening in 1905 as the Waldorf, Novello Theatre was built as a pair with the Aldwych Theatre and features design by W. G. R. Sprague. At present, the theatre is managed by the Shubert Organization. In 2005, Sir Cameron Mackintosh purchased the theatre from Delfont Mackintosh Theatres and renamed it the Novello Theatre in honour of Ivor Novello, the owner of a flat above the theatre. In its century-long existence, the Novello Theatre has been refurbished 3 times; once in 1930, then in the early 1970s, and most recently in 2005. What a super trouper. It’s 24 years since Abba musical Mamma Mia premiered in the West End, setting the template for numerous jukebox shows to follow, and Phyllida Lloyd’s slick production is still a tremendous crowd-pleaser.

The cast and music was all you could ask for .I attended on my own and had great seats. The props, scenery and cast were wonderful. The orchestra was outstanding.Loved the whole experience. Staff at the theater were very helpful.
I recently attended Mama Mia with my daughter at the novello theatre. While the performance itself was amazing I encountered a rather unprofessional bar assistant in the upstairs bar. This particular person seemed to find my Irish accent extremely funny and proceeded to mock my pronunciation of "water". Unfortunately it tainted my overall experience. I would have imagined that staff at all westend theatres would be fully trained in dealing with the public in a courteous manner. I'm not sure this person received any training.
We were taken out of line with wheelchair and we were offered an upgrade so we didn't have to walk so many stairs. Super nice woman. Fantastic crew. Very good voices, beautiful expressions and beautiful dancing . We enjoyed ourselves!!!!

Very engaging show. From where we were sitting (grand circle row D seats 13 and 14) you could see well, except for a few scenes that took place at the edge of the stage. For this reason I would like, if it were technically possible, for the scenes to be moved a little more toward the back of the stage. It would be I think to everyone's benefit.

The staging, costumes, acting, the voices were extraordinary. The scenery, although simple, was in keeping with the focus of each tableau. I enjoyed it very much
