Oh, Mary! is a one-act dark comedy by Cole Escola, directed by Sam Pinkleton, which dramatizes the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination from Mary Todd Lincoln’s perspective. Originally premiered off-Broadway in early 2024, then transferred to Broadway where it won Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor and Best Direction. In London, Mason Alexander Park leads the cast at the Trafalgar Theatre, joined by Giles Terera among others. Critics on Broadway praised its daring mix of camp, irreverence, and emotional undercurrents.
Set in early 1865 in and around the White House, the play centers on Mary Todd Lincoln at a fracturing point in her life, stifled by her marriage, disillusioned with her role, and obsessed with reclaiming a voice she feels she’s lost. Mary imagines a career in cabaret, wrestles with her drinking, and clashes with her husband’s secrets and ambitions. But as tensions mount and loyalties fracture, one dramatic decision looms that will change her course, and history. Book Oh, Mary! tickets London to see how her story unspools.

The Trafalgar Theatre, formerly known as the Whitehall Theatre, first opened in 1930 and retains its striking Art Deco design. Over the decades it became home to political satires, West End revues, and later hosted acclaimed shows like Jersey Boys and End of the Rainbow. Following a careful restoration, the theater reopened in 2021 as a single-auditorium venue, continuing its legacy of presenting bold and conversation-starting productions. Today, it stands at the heart of Whitehall as a destination for theater that blends history with contemporary flair.

I loved the scene and the actors and actress, I came from my country to London especially for Catherine Tate, as I am her biggest fan. I loved her performance, she never disappoints. Also, my mother loved her performance, such a great actress. I loved the music, the scenes, the colors, the lights, everything was on point. Congrats to all of them, such a great work!
I saw the New York production with Escola and think the ensemble here worked better, was more polished and able to convey the spirit of the piece with aplomb. Tate, while different, of course, was brilliant where she succeeded in mastering the dance between comic timing and inflection, the broad and the subtle. Bravo to all!
The audience was lively. The drink was refreshing. The performance hilarious. The theater beautiful. The only suggestion would be to organize the drink set up differently. Very long waits, bar tenders seemed to be stumbling over each other to fill orders. But it was wonderful overall.
Everything was wonderful at the theater. The play was well done and the acting superb The laughs just kept coming. So glad I chose the play Good seats. Funny thing I never saw the QR code on the receipt. Box office was very helpful.
The room was buzzing before the show even started. When it did, we were immediately capitavated and enthralled. The actors' were all amazing and Catherine Tate is just physical comedy genius.
