Why watch The Book Of Mormon?

    • The Book of Mormon is a comic masterpiece by South Park creators, offering a unique blend of humour and satire.
    • The show, acclaimed in London's West End, boasts a Tony-winning score, including hits like 'I Believe' and 'Spooky Mormon Hell Dream'.
    • Celebrated for its brilliant writing and performance, it won 4 Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical.

The Book of Mormon is one of the longest-running Broadway shows and for good reason. It has won a plethora of awards including the Grammy, Tony, and Olivier awards!

The musical is a satire on the beliefs and practices of The Church. The creators of the show spent 7 years developing the play and were met with an overwhelming response from the critics after featuring for the first time in New York. Subsequently, they were featured at the West End in 2013.

The trio - Parker, Lopez, and Stone - were responsible for everything from the writing to the music of the show.

    Storyline

The story follows the lives of two young Mormons who have been deployed to Uganda to spread the word of Jesus Christ. As the duo set out to do their job, they realize that the people of the village struggle with real-life problems like famine and AIDS. The juxtaposition of a community of people cursing their heartless god, and the Mormons coaxing them to revere this god takes this play forward. The Book of Mormon unfolds as a satire of what modern-day religion stands as today, with all its idiosyncrasies and quirks.

    What the critics think

The Book of Mormon is, above all, very funny, breathing three-dimensional, all-singing, all-dancing life into the absurdities of literal Mormon dogma without ever being particulalry mean.

Very easy booking service, good directions to the theatre, seats were easy to find and the book of mormon a very good satire and extreamly funny and being a costume maker for a theatre I must give a compliment to the costume maintenance team, the costumes looked crisp and clean (sat in 5th row) looked like the musical had just been premiéred.

The show was great, but we were a little bit disappointed that we could not see the whole height of the stage from where we sat.
