Set on a sunny Greek island, MAMMA MIA! charts the story of Sophie Sheridan, who dreams of being walked down the aisle by her father, but she has no idea which of her mother Donna’s three former lovers is the dad. To find out, she invites all three to her wedding, setting off romantic and comedic twists in motion. This West End production, directed by Phyllida Lloyd with music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, retains the musical’s signature fusion of pop, emotion and humour. The London cast includes Izi Maxwell (Sophie), Mazz Murray (Donna), Christopher Dickins, Stephen Beckett, and others. The show uses bold costumes, dynamic staging, and crowd-pleasing choreography to bring familiar ABBA songs like “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” to vibrant life. Critics have praised its “fun and campness” (London Theatre) and its ability to get audiences dancing by the show’s end.
On a bright, romantic Greek isle, Sophie Sheridan’s dream of walking down the aisle is shadowed by uncertainty: who is her father? Her mother, Donna, once kept private diaries, hiding three names: Harry, Bill, and Sam. In a twist of hopeful audacity, Sophie invites all three men to her wedding, hoping one will claim the role. What follows is a warm, humorous exploration of identity, love and family under the Mediterranean sun. As old secrets surface and relationships shift, the question of the father remains, and how it will change everything. The performance of *Mamma Mia!* in London today was overall a great experience. The cast delivered an outstanding performance, both vocally and in their acting. The energy on stage and the lively interpretation of the well-known songs created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the show. Unfortunately, the experience was slightly diminished by the seating. From my seat, only about 80% of the stage was visible, which meant that in certain scenes, important parts of the action could not be seen. This was particularly noticeable during moments that took place in the obstructed area. All in all, it is still a highly enjoyable and entertaining show with very strong performances. With a better seat, it would easily have been a 5-star experience—so I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
Mamma Mia! in London was absolutely incredible truly an unforgettable experience. The energy in the theatre was amazing from start to finish. The atmosphere was electric, with people dancing, singing along, and genuinely enjoying every moment. The performances were outstanding, full of passion and joy, and the music created such a feel-good vibe that it was impossible not to smile. It felt more like a celebration than just a show. Without a doubt, this is one of the best musicals I’ve ever seen. I would highly recommend it to everyone you’ll leave the theatre happy, energized, and wanting more!
The theater was packed, the atmosphere was great, the sound, the actors, the musicians... everything was perfect. The audience remained quiet until the cast invited us from the stage to sing and dance along. I saw it twice in Madrid, and now in London—and in English—it was a real treat. Congratulations!

The actors gave an excellent performance. The theater’s setting transports us to another time. ABBA fans will love it. The entrance went smoothly. If you’re prone to vertigo, avoid the balcony. It took me a while to get used to the sensation.

I thought it was beautiful. The costumes, the choreography, the lighting, and the music were all excellent. The voices of the mother and daughter were in a league of their own. I loved them. Highly recommended. I didn't take any photos because it wasn't allowed.
