Set on a sunny Greek island, MAMMA MIA! charts the story of Sophie Sheridan, who dreams of being walked down the aisle by her father, but she has no idea which of her mother Donna’s three former lovers is the dad. To find out, she invites all three to her wedding, setting off romantic and comedic twists in motion. This West End production, directed by Phyllida Lloyd with music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, retains the musical’s signature fusion of pop, emotion and humour. The London cast includes Izi Maxwell (Sophie), Mazz Murray (Donna), Christopher Dickins, Stephen Beckett, and others. The show uses bold costumes, dynamic staging, and crowd-pleasing choreography to bring familiar ABBA songs like “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” to vibrant life. Critics have praised its “fun and campness” (London Theatre) and its ability to get audiences dancing by the show’s end.
On a bright, romantic Greek isle, Sophie Sheridan’s dream of walking down the aisle is shadowed by uncertainty: who is her father? Her mother, Donna, once kept private diaries, hiding three names: Harry, Bill, and Sam. In a twist of hopeful audacity, Sophie invites all three men to her wedding, hoping one will claim the role. What follows is a warm, humorous exploration of identity, love and family under the Mediterranean sun. As old secrets surface and relationships shift, the question of the father remains, and how it will change everything. It was amazing!! Everyone was so lively, spoke/sang clearly, the set was great and the costumes were so fun. Our middle daughter with special needs was terrified of the height that our seats were at and a staff member was so quick to help. They were able to find us closer sets that made her more comfortable quickly so we could enjoy the entire show. They were front and center with a great view and it wasn't an outrageous extra amount to pay compared to the joy that she was able to experience!
It was a truly beautiful, imaginative, and harmonious performance. The set design was somewhat minimalist but could be changed in a matter of seconds between scenes. The actors and singers performed their respective roles flawlessly. The theater has a very beautiful interior. Now a note for "Headout": The ushers/theater staff are very strict about ensuring that no recordings are made during the performance.

It was an unforgettable evening, my first experience of a musical. The setting of this theater, which has a soul of its own, is a spectacle in itself. The staging, the live orchestra, but above all the vocal and choreographic performances—everything was magnificent. The ABBA songs stayed in our heads for hours afterward. A wonderful experience to enjoy with family or friends. I went with my daughter. Véronique (France)

Was waiting for this moment to come true for years and the performance was just amazing. 😊❤️ Everything was so real, singers outstanding, a lot of laughing in between. After this show, I decided to come to London all the way from Slovenia at least once a year for a show or two. 😊😊
Abba songs are a ritual for our family when we arrive at the Portuguese border. So it was with great emotion that I attended this show with my daughter in London on Mother's Day. The women in this show are extraordinary, with sublime voices.
