Why watch Horrible Christmas?
Created by award-winning author Terry Deary and brought to life by the kings of family theatre, the Birmingham Stage Company - it's a Christmas cracker of a show!
Journey through ghosts of seasons past with the masters of edutainment - Horrible Histories brings the blockbuster series’ festive blend of facts and fun for another season.
Laugh your stockings off as Charles Dickens raps, Henry VIII feasts, and Oliver Cromwell tries to ban Christmas cheer in this hilarious romp and a half.
The globally acclaimed production delivers a sleigh full of merry for the whole family, transporting you and your loved ones to a winter wonderland worthy of the name.
The Olivier-nominated team behind Gangsta Granny presents a Christmas show with serious street cred! The director, Neal Foster (who also plays Dad) has decked the halls with laughter bells, transforming the stage into a twinkling paradise. While Sydney Claus and his reindeer henchmen provide plenty of pantomime-style villainy, the show also sneaks in fascinating historical facts about the origins of our favorite Christmas traditions. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the series or starting your voyage through the world of Horrible Histories, this time-traveling yuletide escapade is the perfect mash-up of fun, facts, and festive cheer!
Storyline
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... except for young Watson Williams, sneaking a peek at his presents! But when he opens a mysterious book, he's whisked away on a century-skipping adventure to save Christmas from the dastardly Sydney Claus. With the help of detective Shirley Holmes, and the unlikely company of Charles Dickens, Oliver Cromwell, King Henry VIII, and St Nicholas, Watson must hurtle through history to keep the holiday spirit alive. Will they defeat the evil man in red and his reindeer henchmen? Or will Christmas be canceled forever? It's a race against time (literally!) in this jolly, fact-filled spectacle!

Alexandra Palace Theatre
Alexandra Palace Theatre first opened its doors in 1875, and was named after the popular new Princess of Wales, Alexandra of Denmark. The theatre quickly became a place of wonder where audiences came to watch pantomime, opera, ballet, and dramas. Alexandra Palace showcases brilliant Victorian engineering, with advanced stage machinery made for performers to appear, fly through the air, and disappear through the stage! Through the years, this theatre has been used as a cinema, a chapel, the home of music hall stars, and even as a BBC prop store and workshop. For 80 years it was closed to the public; in 2019 this hidden gem of London opened its doors to once again become home to the wonders of theatre. Seating Capacity: 900 seats
