Based on the 2002 picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, this stage adaptation returns to London’s West End at St. Martin’s Theatre from 9 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. Produced by Fierylight and Little Angel Theatre, the musical stage production earned a 2023 Olivier Award nomination for Best Family Show following regional UK tours. Directed by Samantha Lane with music by Barb Jungr, the play features custom puppets, live acting, and interactive singalong musical segments tailored for children aged two and above.
Storyline
George, the giant, is fed up with his usual dress of an old robe. He doesn’t want to be the scruffiest giant in town anymore. He gets a chance to try something new when he encounters a new shop in town advertising clothes in his exact size. George's trying for a completely distinct style this time: smart slacks, smart shirt, striped tie, and gleaming shoes! George emerges from the shop as the town's smartest giant! Show was great and booking tickets was easy. There was confusion getting into the theatre with the queue to get on mixed up with the queue storing the pushchairs and strollers.
