The Woman in Black is a play adapted by Stephen Mallatrat and is based on a book by Susan Hill. Witness the two protagonists transport you into a ghostly world with impeccable stage design.
The play revolves around an old man named Arthur Kipps who attended a client’s funeral years ago and had the misfortune of learning about The Woman in Black. Years later, he tries to exorcise the ghost by sharing his experience with an actor on the stage.
First performed in 1987 at Theatre-By-The-Sea in Scarborough, this play made its way to the West End in 1989 and became the second-longest-running show. The current cast of this horror play will see Terrence Wilton reprising his role as Arthur Kipps and Max Hitchingson playing the Actor.<br/> It is one of the scariest live theatre experiences that you will ever see!

Storyline

In The Woman in Black, you will follow the story of a solicitor named Arthur Kipps who travels to Eel Marsh House to attend the funeral of its sole inhabitant, Mrs. Alice Drablow. Unaware of the dark secrets surrounding this house, he catches a glimpse of a young woman, dressed in black, at the funeral. When he inquires about her, he starts feeling a little uneasy as everyone is scared to discuss this woman in black.
As he returns, his life becomes haunted and misfortunes befall him. In an attempt to drive it away, he takes the help of an actor years later to tell his story to others.

Fortune Theatre is a West End theatre on Russell Street in the City of Westminster, close to Covent Garden. The Woman in Black has been performing there continuously since 1989. Laurence Cowen, an author, dramatist, and impresario, purchased the property that had previously been the historic Albion Tavern, a tavern favoured by Georgian and Victorian actors. It was the first theatre built in London following the First World War, constructed between 1922 and 1924, and seats 432 people.
