Shakespeare's Globe
The original Shakespeare's Globe Theatre was a three-tiered, open-air, circular construction that encouraged audience participation because of its stage's projection into the middle of the auditorium. It was destroyed twice, once in 1613 and again in 1642. Located not far from the original location, the Globe Theatre's contemporary recreation opened in 1997 and quickly gained popularity as a place to see plays.
