Storyline

Set in 1908 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, Princess Essex tells the story of Princess Dinubolu of Senegal who enters a beauty contest at the iconic Kursaal, Europe's biggest entertainment complex. This exciting play explores the story of Princess Dinubolu as she becomes the first woman of colour to participate in a UK beauty pageant.
