One of the most romantic novels of all time, Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) is coming to your favorite theatre in London soon. Based on the 1813 romantic novel of the same name by Jane Austen, this show is an adaptation by Isobel McArthur that has been slightly revamped. It is an all-female production that involves match-making and is all about men, money, and microphones.

Sway to the beats of amazing scores like You’re So Vain, Something’s Changed, Young Heart’s Run Free, and more by Candi Staton and Carly Simon. Watch the story unfold from the perspective of six servants who feel unseen and under-appreciated. They meddle in the match-making and witness all the scandals while singing their hearts out on the Karaoke.

Storyline

Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) is a satirical show depicting education and marriages during the Regency period. It follows the story of Elizabeth Bennet, who makes hasty judgments and faces their repercussions, and her family.

Mr. Bennet, Elizabeth’s father, has five daughters but his estate can only be passed on to a male heir. The parents try to find a match for at least one of their daughters to ensure that they don’t end up poor upon the father’s death. The main plot of the show is about why is it important to marry for love and not for money or social ranking, regardless of the societal pressure to marry rich.

About Theatre

A Grade II listed theatre, Criterion Theatre is an independent West End theatre in London. The theatre site was developed in 1870 by a catering company named Spiers and Pond. And the First Night on 21 March 1874 showed ‘Topseyturveydom’ and ‘An American Lady’. Over the years, there were many productions shown here including Fresh Fields, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, The 39 Steps, and more.
