Why Watch Ghost Stories?
- Get ready to feel terror like you've never felt before with a Halloween showing of Ghost Stories at the Peacock Theatre.
- One of the most terrifying theatrical experiences ever, the production is the brainchild of Jeremy Dyson (The League of Gentlemen) and Andy Nyman (co-creator of Derren Brown’s television and stage shows).
- The play follows Professor Goodman on a hunt to uncover the truth behind recent paranormal occurrences, but the further he delves into the madness, the harder it becomes to explain it away.
- Catch the record-breaking show on the West End and remember to sleep with one eye open - you never know what's lurking in the dark.
Ghost Stories was conceived by Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson to counter the lack of horror plays being produced. The duo was commissioned by the artistic director of the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, Sean Holmes, to write their play. Inspired by past shows like The Virgin Monologues, they crafted a uniquely terrifying tale of ghost stories narrated by various characters, helping to revive the genre and bring it back to the main stage.
Storyline
Dr. Goodman, a Professor of Parapsychology, conducts a lecture on ghost stories, recounting the experiences of three individuals - a night watchman, a teen, and a businessman who awaits the birth of his first child - who claim to have experienced the paranormal. As the professor details each tale, the stage comes alive, a re-enactment playing out what happened. As the lecture progresses, the lines between tale and truth blur, and the professor's role in it all starts to unravel.
