The Story
Mrs. Doubtfire tells the story of Daniel, a divorced actor, and father of 3 children. The divorce ends up with him losing custody of his kids. The Shaftesbury Theatre, located on Shaftesbury Avenue, is a West End theatre. It opened in 1911 as the New Prince's Theater. On 20 July 1973, a part of the ceiling fell leading to its closure. The theatre reopened with West Side Story a year later. In March 2006, the theatre underwent a large refurbishment, the entire stalls and dress circle being reseated, redecorated and the front of house area was also renovated. Ever since, the theatre has hosted many revivals, including the European premiere of the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Hairspray.
