Following the success of the original 1967 film, Mel Brooks took the opportunity to adapt his satirical black comedy for the Broadway stage as the musical version of The Producers. It had a trial run in 2001 starring Mathew Broderick and Nathan Lane, which proved to be a success, and the show went on to play over 2,500 performances and won a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards. The West End production of the show ran from 2004-2007, proving to be just as successful across the pond. Unsurprisingly, the show's revival off-West End in 2024 was widely welcomed and acclaimed, leading to a follow-up at the Garrick Theatre on the West End.
Theater producer Max Bialystock, once called the "King of Broadway," has just had his latest production, an adaptation of Hamlet titled Funny Boy, panned and shut down on opening night. His mousy accountant, Leo Bloom, harbors a lifelong dream to be a Broadway producer. When the duo realizes that an accounting error earned Bialystock more money than his shows ever do, they hatch a plan: raise $2 million in investments, create the greatest Broadway flop of all time, shut it down on opening night, pocket the money, and flee the country. It's a foolproof plan. Unfortunately for the duo, the show turns out to be a greater hit than anyone could have ever predicted, prompting them to ask themselves the question: Where Did We Go Right?

A show that did the movies proud. Each and every performance was spot on. The music was incredible. A non surprising Smash Hit!! A definite must see.
Loved the show, very funny. Dancing and acting was top notch.
I never saw "The Producers" before, neither on screen or stage, although I did see snippets here and there, so I was a little concerned the play might be dated and no longer funny, but I was wrong. It was still hilarious with a slapstick sort of zaniness only Mel Brooks could dream up. LOL The songs weren't terribly memorable, although "Springtime for Hitler" will always be iconic, but it was fun to watch and the actors and actresses who performed at the Garrick Theater were outstanding. I was especially impressed by Roger's statue, he moved so fluidly and froze so perfectly. Just the way I'd expect a magical statue to behave. The theater itself is very cute and classically quaint, but my seat in Row W was directly behind the seat in front. There's very little slope or offset, so if somebody in front of you is tall, then expect half the stage blocked from view. Music was performed live, out of view, but sounded great and so much better than prerecorded tracks. Great staff running the place.
The theatre itself was amazing, it was crazy to go down so far and emerge into that room. The comedy landed just right and the actors and production values were all extremely impressive
I'd already known this show in its stage and film versions for some years, but this performance (with some very interesting new features) was really incredible. The actors, orchestra and technical people kept up the side-splitting but complicated non-stop action for 2.1/2 hours (with a well-deserved 20-minute break in the middle) without so much as putting a single foot wrong, fluffed line or wrong note that I could detect. Absolutely amazing! This was a matinee, so they had to do it all again a coupler of hours later? They deserved every penny they were paid and more. I'm afraid I gave up London as a desirable place to go some time ago (for reasons that the whole world must know by now) but I'm coming back to see this show again if it's still going.
The cost of tickets starts at £25 and will vary depending on the type of seats you choose.
The show is recommended for people aged 10 years and above. It contains strobe and flashing lights, references to Adolf Hitler and Nazis, strong sexual content, adult humor, and simulated sex scenes. Viewer discretion is advised.
