Hadestown in the west end was the most emotional musical experience I have ever had the pleasure of watching. The acting was superb, very subtle offers from all the characters. Hades' actor floored me with how grounded and evil he was but deeply flawed and relatable at the same time. The singing from the whole cast was amazing and the main romance had me tearing up throughout. I really liked Hermes was portrayed as well as Orpheus' Scottish acting! Eurydice's actress was even tearing up on the stage, all the actors were crying as we were. It was very cathartic! The set design and atmosphere were amazing, very intricate! The band had me instantly transported to the roaring 20's, the trombone, drummer and pianist all had be impressed the whole time! We even got some signatures from the cast after the show! I would see this again any day! Thanks to the cast and crew for putting on such a wonderful Valentine's Day show!!!!!!!!!
The show itself was very well produced and the set design was impressive- the performers are all clearly giving their all to this show but the characters simply weren't developed in a way that made me feel moved to care about them. Disappointing! In terms of the seating, it was comfortable with plenty of legroom - the pillar in sight line to the right was not a problem at all, I could see the performance clearly. Only other bad experience was that one usher I encountered on several occasions was rude, hurrying women queuing for the toilets.
I have been dreaming of seeing this musical for 5 years now, and it blew away all my expactations. The music, the ensamble and the actors were just amazing. I flew 2 hours to see it and it was worth every penny. The cast had such great energy and chemestry amoungs themself, and the band was great and really impressed me.
The show was unforgettable! What really stood out was the diversity among the actors and musicians. The performance was flawless and the soundtracks made us quite emotional! Great adaptation of the myth and that's coming from a greek person. Would definitely recommend it!
