An Unfinished Man starring Fode Simbo as Kayode, Teri Ann Bobb-Baxter as Kikiope, Selina Jones as Itan, Mark Springer as Matanmi, and Lucy Vandi as Layo is a new play written by Dipo Baruwa-Etti and directed by Taio Lawson.
The show finds its setting in East London. Fode Simbo plays the part of a young man, Kayode, facing some middle-aged crisis in his personal and professional life which hits him to rock bottom. The play also provides an insight into the age-old structural racism, gentrification, and what society expects of men.
A British-Nigerian man based in East London, named Kayode is unable to find a stable source of income and has been unemployed for the past seven years now leading him to depression. All this has affected the relationship he shares with his wife to a large extent who thinks that he should seek therapy, but his mother has something else to say. She believes that he has been cursed as a child back in Nigeria and tries to convince him to break the spell by using the power of black magic. Will he resort to witchcraft to break himself free from all his sufferings?
