Designed by architect Ewen Barr, the theatre was ingeniously crafted to overcome the challenges of an unusually shaped site. The theatre opened its doors in November 1929 with a production of Tunnel Trench by Hubert Griffith. In its early years, the Duchess Theatre hosted a series of short but notable runs featuring works by prominent playwrights, helping to establish its presence in the West End scene.

    Incredible comedic timing. The actors were 100% dedicated to their roles which really drew you in. It wasn't so much about the plot but watching how the characters handled the show falling apart which I throughly enjoyed anticipating what's going to go wrong next?

    A wacky, witty comedy. Very well acted. The entire cast was great playing their roles with the perfect amount of seriousness and tongue in cheek " I know this is strange but just come with me on this journey. Fabulous!
