Why watch Lost Atoms?

  • A fresh, contemporary play that dives into the unreliable nature of memory and how two people remember the same relationship differently, balancing humour and heartbreak in equal measure.
  • Written by Anna Jordan, whose award-winning work includes Yen (Bruntwood Prize) and TV credits like Succession and One Day, and directed by Scott Graham as part of Frantic Assembly’s 30th anniversary season.
  • Themes of love, sex, pregnancy, grief, and loss are presented with honesty and theatrical inventiveness, making the play as thought-provoking as it is emotionally powerful.
  • This is a strictly limited London run at the Lyric Hammersmith, and early reviews call it “funny, devastating, and beautifully staged,” making it a rare chance to catch a bold new work at its premiere.

Lost Atoms is a new play from award-winning writer Anna Jordan, whose acclaimed works include Yen (winner of the Bruntwood Prize) and television credits like Succession and One Day. Following sell-out tours of Othello and Metamorphosis, this production by Frantic Assembly marks the company’s 30th anniversary and continues their legacy of innovative physical theatre.

The story follows Jess and Robbie as they relive the soaring highs and crushing lows of a relationship, probing how love shapes memory and identity. Joe Layton (Mary Stuart, Toni Erdmann) and Hannah Sinclair Robinson (Metamorphosis, I Think We Are Alone) bring the central roles to life in this beautifully staged production.

Storyline

Jess meets Robbie and together they build something that feels remarkable—full of promise, intensity, and risk. Over time, they replay their relationship in their minds, returning to joyful peaks and painful lows. As memories shift, the show asks: are they seeing the same events? And how do those differences reshape who they become?
