    Why watch Every Brilliant Thing?

    • This one‑actor play uses live audience interaction to build a touching, often humorous list that examines why life matters without giving the whole story away.
    • Written by Olivier‑nominated Duncan Macmillan and comedian Jonny Donahoe, it has toured 80+ countries, adapted into an HBO film, and finally arrives in the West End in a high‑profile run.
    • Themes of depression, loss, hope and love unfold through small joys—no props, no set changes—creating an intimate theatre experience that lingers.
    • The limited‑season cast includes rotating nights by Lenny Henry, Jonny Donahoe, Ambika Mod, Sue Perkins and Minnie Driver—each performance uniquely powered.
    • @sohoplace’s in‑the‑round design seats 602 people close to the action—this close West End premiere makes Every Brilliant Thing tickets especially sought after.

Every Brilliant Thing, written by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe, has become a global phenomenon since its 2014 Edinburgh Fringe debut. The play combines minimal staging with big emotions and emerges as a moving comedic piece about mental health and love. This production marks its first West End run at the newly opened @sohoplace, which offers a close‑up, interactive in‑the‑round layout. Directed jointly by Jeremy Herrin and Macmillan, the cast rotates nightly between well‑known performers like Lenny Henry, Ambika Mod, Sue Perkins and Minnie Driver. The show has earned critical praise—The Times called it “rich with theatrical innovation”; The Observer described it as “an extraordinarily rich hour of theatre”… all deeply earned.

    Storyline

A young child compiles a list of everything worth living for when their mother falls into depression—a simple gesture at first. Over time the list grows alongside the narrator’s life: rainbows, laughing dogs, first love, ice‑creams, all with genuine charm. Through this evolving list, Every Brilliant Thing tickets holders join the narrative and even contribute in real time. As the narrator reaches adulthood, the list gains powerful meaning. What happens when the list isn’t enough? How will love and life tie together? Book Every Brilliant Thing tickets soon to find out.
