The show as a whole was very well produced, with incredible sets, stunning costumes and, of course, an electrifying soundtrack. It was an unforgettable experience! Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, the mastermind behind Mamma Mia!, TINA: The Tina Turner Musical was written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kess Prins. The show features brilliant choreography by Anthony van Laast with set and costume design by Mark Thompson. Aisha Jawando stars as Tina Turner joined by Jammy Kasongo playing her partner Ike.
TINA: The Tina Turner Musical has had a large amount of involvement from Tina Turner herself, who recently proclaimed that working on the musical helped bring her out of retirement. Storyline
The musical is a deep dive into the triumphant and troubling life of Tina Turner, right from her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her tumultuous relationship with Ike Turner and her iconic comeback in her 40s. The musical follows Tina’s journey to becoming a superstar coupled with her experience with marital abuse and eventual divorce from her long-time partner and husband Ike Turner. The musical beautifully showcases her knack for overcoming obstacles, a talent that came in handy to help her become a solo rock 'n’ roll star.

Despite being constructed together and designed by the same architect, the two theatres were funded and managed by different entities. The theatre has hosted numerous musical comedies in its early years, including the production Blue Bell, which starred Mr. Hicks.

The sound was inconsistent from our seats. The first two or three numbers could not be heard properly, music overwhelming the singing and lyrics mumbled. Improved as play progressed and as long as singers were belting. Not sure if the problem was due to poor vocal strength and articulation of some cast members or poor sound engineering.

I had an incredible time watching Tina: The Tina Turner Musical! The show was powerful, emotional, and full of energy from beginning to end. I was especially moved by the performances of the actresses playing Tina – both the young Tina and the adult Tina were phenomenal. Their voices, stage presence, and emotional depth truly brought her story to life. There were no issues at all with the tickets I purchased – everything went smoothly.
