Why watch Mozart: Her Story – The New Musical (In Concert)?

  • Don't miss this groundbreaking musical event that voices the untold story of Nan Mozart, the genius composer overshadowed by her famous brother, Wolfgang.
  • Two-time Olivier recipient Sean Foley directs, with music that blends Mozart’s classics with contemporary originals from Gregory Nabours and Tegan Summer.
  • If you've ever wondered how a female composer lived in the 18th century, don't miss this one-night-only performance at the Lyric Theatre in London.

Mozart: Her Story – The New Musical is a provocative retelling of the Mozart family's history set against the backdrop of the 18th-century court. The musical illuminates the little-known tale of Nan Mozart, marrying Mozart's classics with over 20 contemporary originals, pushing the boundaries of artistic expression. Music director Nabours is best known for winning the LA Weekly Award and the NAACP Award for Best Musical Direction for The Color Purple. Lyricist Summer is also an NAACP and Ovation award-recipient.

Storyline

Set against the backdrop of a male-dominated 18th-century court, Mozart: Her Story – The New Musical follows the life of Nan Mozart, a gifted composer overshadowed by her brother, Wolfgang. Arguably better than her brother, Nan is forced to leave the artistic world behind when she hits her teens as her father sends her home to get married. Refusing to be silenced, Nan sparks a rebellion, setting the stage for a journey of love, hate, tragedy, and redemption. Will Nan and Wolfgang’s sibling relationship suffer?
