Such a wonderfully memorable experience! We sat in row L center at the Victoria Apollo Theater - not the most expensive seats but close enough to the stage to feel like we were right up front. The voices were sublime, the costumes beautiful and the stage set elaborate. Wicked is funny and eye opening at the same time. Our party of four men and women of different ages all loved it!

    Why watch Wicked?

    • Wicked puts a "devilishly clever spin on The Wizard of Oz” (The Telegraph), before Dorothy’s arrival, revealing how two young witches, Glinda and Elphaba, formed an unlikely friendship that changed Oz forever.
    • Winner of over 100 major awards, including three Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy, Wicked has already been seen by over 13 million people in London.
    • The score by Stephen Schwartz features unforgettable numbers like "Defying Gravity" and "For Good", performed against a backdrop of elaborate sets and gravity-defying stagecraft.
    • Celebrating 19 triumphant years at Apollo Victoria Theatre, Wicked is now the 10th longest-running show in West End history. Book your tickets to the Wicked musical in London now!

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the musical was adapted by Winnie Holzman with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Directed by Joe Mantello, the London production has been enchanting audiences since 2006 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Behind the curtain, the award-winning creative team features Susan Hilferty’s Tony-winning costumes, Eugene Lee’s scenic design, and Kenneth Posner’s lighting, all combining to deliver a spectacular stage experience. With themes of friendship, identity, and the blurred lines between good and evil, Wicked continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. The Grammy Award-winning soundtrack, stunning visuals, and critical recognition, including ten WhatsOnStage Awards for Best West End Show, ensure its legacy as a modern classic.

    Storyline

Set long before Dorothy’s journey through Oz, Wicked follows Glinda, the popular blonde witch, and Elphaba, the green-skinned outcast with extraordinary powers. Their paths cross at university, where rivalry soon grows into an unexpected bond. As politics, magic, and ambition intervene, the women find themselves on diverging destinies, one celebrated as the “Good Witch” and the other feared as “Wicked.” With its exploration of prejudice, power, and personal choice, the Wicked musical in London takes audiences on an emotional journey that reveals the true story behind the legends of Oz.

The Apollo Victoria Theatre first opened in 1930 as a cinema. The cinema was converted into a musical theater venue in 1981 with the opening of The Sound of Music. This was followed by many other massive musical productions, including Saturday Night Fever and Fiddler on the Roof. In 2006, the Apollo Victoria became the home of Wicked, where it has played ever since. The interiors of the theater feature a beautiful Art Deco design complemented by subtle accent lighting to create the effect of a secret underwater cavern.

Our first time visiting a theatre and i couldn't imagine a better place to do so. It was for a birthday celebration and the atmosphere made it magical. The theatre staff were extremely professional, friendly and welcoming while the performers were some of the industries best. Everything was to perfection. 10/10
