The Prince of Egypt is a musical play portraying the lives of two brothers in Ancient Egypt. It was adapted from the acclaimed animation film of the same name. The play first premiered in Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts and ended up winning the Regional Tony Award!
The musical is crafted by supremely talented people including Tony, Academy, Grammy, and Olivier Award winners. The overarching theme of the play is Blue vs Red which is portrayed beautifully by Director Scott Schwartz and the lyrics and music by the mastermind behind ‘Wicked the Musical’ Stephen Schwartz.
The story shows the journey of two young siblings who were raised in the sandy deserts of Ancient Egypt as royal brothers. Fate however had other plans for them as they are divided by a secret past. As they embark upon a journey fulfilling their fates they set out on an adventure that would change the course of history forever. It is a gripping tale exploring the theme of Blue vs Red; that is passion vs freedom, love vs loyalty. The music of the play carries this theme and its intricacies beautifully throughout the story and makes the play an unforgettable experience.
This version of The Prince of Egypt comes with several new songs that explore the journey of Moses and Ramses and how they go from being brothers to mortal enemies.
