Why Watch The Producers?

  • Buckle up for a wild ride as the Tony Award winning musical adaptation of Mel Brooks's classic cult film returns to the West End.
  • Follow theater producer Max Bialystock and accountant Leo Bloom as their perfect money-making scheme of creating the biggest flop on Broadway goes awry when the show turns into a runaway hit.
  • No one is safe from this hilariously irreverent satirical black comedy, which bills itself as an "equal opportunity offender."
  • The award-winning team from the production's original run returns for this staging of a modern classic, so grab your tickets before they run out!

Following the success of the original 1967 film, Mel Brooks took the opportunity to adapt his satirical black comedy for the Broadway stage as the musical version of The Producers. It had a trial run in 2001 starring Mathew Broderick and Nathan Lane, which proved to be a success, and the show went on to play over 2,500 performances and won a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards. The West End production of the show ran from 2004-2007, proving to be just as successful across the pond. Unsurprisingly, the show's revival off-West End in 2024 was widely welcomed and acclaimed, leading to a follow-up at the Garrick Theatre on the West End.

Storyline

Theater producer Max Bialystock, once called the "King of Broadway," has just had his latest production, an adaptation of Hamlet titled Funny Boy, panned and shut down on opening night. His mousy accountant, Leo Bloom, harbors a lifelong dream to be a Broadway producer. When the duo realizes that an accounting error earned Bialystock more money than his shows ever do, they hatch a plan: raise $2 million in investments, create the greatest Broadway flop of all time, shut it down on opening night, pocket the money, and flee the country. It's a foolproof plan. Unfortunately for the duo, the show turns out to be a greater hit than anyone could have ever predicted, prompting them to ask themselves the question: Where Did We Go Right?
