11London’s West End has a new demigod in town, and he’s flexing his way through Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Disney's Hercules brings its animated charm to the stage with high-energy choreography, dazzling visuals, and enough sass to make Hades proud. But does it live up to its legendary status? Let’s break it down.
I think the performances and the costumes made this event unforgettable. I loved how they all had strong voices and great control everything was clear. Every songs were beautiful to listen. They did perform every character in a unique way which reminded us the Disney but in a different way. I grew up with a version of each character that I loved but the changes were refreshing, in thunes with this era and the kids. Which takes me to the costumes I really appreciate how they mixed Greek traditional patterns with modern styles singular to each characters. The muses were unbelievable ! Each changes of wigs and costumes made me think they couldn't do better but they did ! Each time ! It was colour full, lively, beautiful. Those wigs were so respectful of black peoples hair and the design were different every time and in tune with every muse's personality. I did leave the theatre with stars in my eyes and a strong feeling of nostalgia. I have the feeling that I have seen a one of a kind performance this night and I am so happy that I was able to witness it. To finish I would like to thanks the staff of the theatre they were really kind and understanding. They handled the show with great care and professionalism. Thank you for giving us the chance to see this amazing performance. Ps : I'm sorry if I made some mistakes English isn't my first language.
The theater is pretty easy to get to. The staff is friendly, but needs to be better at informing when it comes to concessions. First row of balcony is not allowed to have glass at their seats but that's what the bar gives and they serve soda and other drinks in glass bottles, only offering a plastic cup when you try to go to your seat. As for the show, it was not what I was expecting. They changed the plot for the musical and some of the actors were obviously not the typical ones in the roles they were playing. But it was a Wednesday night performance. My view from the front row of the balcony was great if I leaned forward for the entire show. Sitting normally in my seat, I missed any action at the left front of the stage.
My wife and I came to London mainly because we wanted to see this show. Hercules has always been my favorite Disney cartoon, ever since I was a kid. We also went to Broadway last year, but this is probably still the best musical we’ve ever seen. All the performers were truly excellent; I especially liked the Muses and Hades. To make sure we didn’t miss a thing, we stocked up on souvenirs after the show—including that wonderful tote bag.
First time at Drury Lane theatre and was amazed at how grand it was with modern amenities like the bar and comfy seats The performance itself was incredible, great songs from the film and original songs, paired with lively sets and costumes. The performances were outstanding as well with Hades having our favourite song and Phil was a stand out too We got a Hercules cup from the film when we got drinks at the bar as well. Would 100% recommend and would go again!
Took my almost 5 year old to see it on Saturday and it was magical from start to finish! The singing was incredible, the set design was stunning and the set changes were done so smoothly you barely noticed they were happening. We both left with huge grins on our faces and are both in a hurry to rush back to see it again!
