One of the most incredible productions at London Coliseum Theatre, Così Fan Tutte is an opera buffa by Mozart. This comic masterpiece follows two sisters and their fiancé as they enjoy a holiday in Coney Island but are interrupted by the fairground’s master who plays a game with them. The subtle music adds to the staging and tells a story of love and lust in a world where the boundaries between reality and fiction are a little blurred.
Get transported to Phelim Dermott’s 1950s Coney Island and immerse yourself in this fun opera. With British conductor Kerem Hasan leading an exceedingly talented cast, the production is going to just blow your mind. Watch Harewood Artists Nardus Williams as Fiordiligi, Soraya Mafi as Despina, and Benson Wilson as Guglielmo. With baritone Neal Davis as Don Alfonso, Amitai Pati as Ferrando, and mezzo-soprano Hanna Hipp as Dorabella, Così Fan Tutte is both fun and entertaining. Catch this stunning opera for a limited run in autumn!
Così Fan Tutte starts with two navy men, Ferrando and Guglielmo, talking about love and how their fiancés are good and beautiful. However, cynical Don Alfonso proposes a wager to determine the fidelity of the two women. Agreeing to it, both the fiancés pretend to have gone for a battle and leave the sisters sad and alone behind. They disguise themselves as Albanians and try to woo the sisters and fall in love with them.
After resisting for a while, the sisters end up falling for their tricks and agreeing to marry them. The story ends with the fiancés revealing themselves and forgiving the sisters because as Don says ‘all women are like this’ meaning Così Fan Tutte.
