The Story

The Blue opera recounts a heartbreaking story that deals with current concerns of racism and injustice, with the impact of police misconduct against unarmed Black men at the center of the story. Blue opera is a touching human drama about the brutal consequences of excessive use of force by American police officers on African-American people and how it affects their families and the community‌. It tells the narrative of a Black couple living in Harlem who has to grapple with the grief of losing their only son at the hands of a white cop. More importantly, perhaps, the father who is a cop himself examines his own image of a police officer and what it means to be a part of law enforcement in today’s world. How do they deal with such a bitter truth? Is there a resolution in sight? What is the answer? Experience Blue opera, a tragic tale that deals with issues that are still very relevant to humanity as a whole.

  • Blue opera consists of several scenes that might be too grim to handle for a child, therefore, it is recommended for children above the age of 15.
