  • Smash-hit musical Babies returns to The Other Palace Theatre for a strictly limited run after a successful run at London’s West End.
  • Babies, winner of the BYMT New Music Theatre Award 2021, is a satirical look at what can happen if you have to be both a child and an adult at the same time.
  • This coming-of-age family entertainer is a comedic yet heartbreaking look at friendship, growing up, and accepting that change is inevitable.
  • Babies captures the rollercoaster journey of parenthood in a fresh, entertaining, and critically-acclaimed way.

Catch a different coming-of-age story in Babies, a New(born) Musical! The show returns to London this summer at the Other Palace Theatre and stars Heartstopper’s Bradley Riches as Toby.

Martha Geelan, who wrote the book the show is based on, directs the production, which features orchestrations by Jack Godrey (42 Balloons) and Olivier Award nominee Joe Beighton (SIX, Sweeney Todd, St Anne Comes Home). Alexzandra Sarmiento (Hamilton, Cabaret, Strictly Ballroom) acts as the choreographer. The musical set and costume designer is the award-winning Jasmine Swan, while the sound design is by Grammy and Tony Award nominee Paul Gatehouse, with lighting design by Will Hayman.

Storyline

Summer is over. Year 11 is here. You are no longer a child. It's time to enjoy more parties, take on more responsibilities, and even become parents (to a plastic robot baby simulator). Following an increase in pregnancies among their seniors, the school's sex education department is pushed to take action.

Babies depicts nine classmates who embark on their most significant school project yet: keeping an artificial baby alive for a week. As the stresses of adolescence collide with the obligations of parenting, students are forced to examine themselves. What do they truly want? Who do they truly want to be? What kind of parents are they going to be? Do plastic robot babies need diaper changes?
