Maria Björnson

Production Designer of the Phantom of the Opera

Maria Björnson was a theatrical and production designer. Maria is an alumni of Lycée Français, the Byam Shaw School of Art and the Central School of Art and Design, where she studied art and design. She returned to her alma mater as a Course Director in Theatrical Design. Björnson designed the sets and costumes for Phantom of the Opera and Aspects of Love. She received a Tony and Drama Desk Award for her outstanding work on Phantom of the Opera. Maria passed away in 2002 of an epileptic seizure.
