Hugo Chiarella

Resident Director of the Phantom of the Opera

Hugo Chiarella is an Australian writer famous for his work in musical theatre. An alumnus of the Victorian College of the Arts, Chiarella started his contribution to theatre right from college. His production of Dreamsong was supported by the VCA. He also performed in the Australian production and international tour of Les Misérables. In 2020, he took over the UK production of Les Misérables as their resident director. A year later, Chiarella expanded his resident director responsibilities to the West End production of Phantom of the Opera.
