Nestled on London’s illustrious Shaftesbury Avenue, the Gielgud Theatre first graced the stage in December 1906, originally going by the rather unassuming name of the Hicks Theatre. This architectural gem, designed by the same genius behind the Wyndham Theatre, boasts a fabulous Louis XVI-themed decor that’s fit for royalty—if only the walls could talk! Now owned by Delfont Macintosh Theatres, the Gielgud is famous for hosting shorter performances, proving that good things really do come in petite packages.

Recently, my children and I attended the Oliver performance. We were captivated by the professional acting of the actors, we enjoyed the music, singing, and beautiful scenery that transported us to the time this story was about.I would also like to note the attentiveness and excellent work of the staff, who took care of the comfort of our visit by escorting us to the seats offered by additional seats and accompanying us to the toilet. It all made our event unforgettable.
Such a fantastic event, this is the second time I have seen Oliver and it was even better. The cast, young Oliver has a beautiful voice and showing a lot of talent. The actor playing Fagin was funny, slick and engaging. It is such an uplifting show and although there are dark moments it is joyous. Actress playing Nancy has an incredible voice. Marvellous
This is the second time we’ve seen this wonderful show—the first time as a couple, and the second time with a friend. The sets and costumes are magnificent; Hats off to the actors who played Fagin and Nancy for their vocal performances. We felt as though we’d been transported to Dickens’s London. An experience to savor again and again!

The venue was the perfect place to exhibit the talent of the most accurate casting for each role. Each was as talented as each other. The venue lends itself to the telling of this story the audience is drawn in to each part as the seating surrounds the stage. Great venue & cast. The staff so efficient and ready with a smile!
My boyfriend and I particularly enjoyed fagan's freestyle soliloquy directed at the audience. Nancys singing brought a tear to our eyes and the whole performance was incredible. I particularly enjoyed seeing Steven Beale from Eastenders playing Bill sites.
