The Story

The play chronicles the terrible story of John Proctor, a devoted farmer whose life is drawn into the witch trials when his wife is falsely accused of sorcery by some young girls. The town is gripped by a real sense of panic as the charges get out of hand, and even raising doubts about the veracity of the claims is cause for suspicion and accusation. The threat of being found guilty and put to death for a crime they did not commit forces the accused to fight the pervasive grip of dread and mistrust in a world where paranoia is rampant. John Proctor must battle for his life along with that of the people he loves during this terrifying time.
