Get Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical

The wait is finally over - Get Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical is set to premiere at Lyric Theatre this year in October 2021. Inspired by real-life superstar Bob Marley, the show is packed with popular hit songs plus the singer’s inspiring personal journey.

Although the majority of the casting is yet to be announced, Arinzé Kene will star in the show as Bob Marley. Kene is known for his appearances in theatre, film, and television, winning himself the Black British Theatre Award in 2020 for Book and Lyrics recognition, and the Evening Standard Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2016.

Writer Lee Hall and Director Clint Dyer are backed by a creative team of specialists, including Sean Green as Musical Director, Shelley Maxwell as the choreographer, and Chloe Lamford on sets.

The Story

Born in the rural hills of Jamaica with nothing but a beautiful voice and a powerful message, Bob Marley was determined to sow the seeds of peace and love through his music. Marley is considered one of the pioneers of reggae music, bringing his inspiring story of passion and political unrest from Trench Town to West End.

Viewers can expect an unlimited number of Bob Marley’s most famous hit songs throughout the show, carefully curated by musical director Sean Green. Lose yourself to the sweet rhythms of “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Could You Be Loved,” “Redemption Song,” “No Woman, No Cry,” and so much more.
